please, if you are able, do what you can for the asiatic lion. donate, get involved, spread information. there are only about 300 left in the world, and they all live in Gir Forest National Park in India.

the african lion is also estimated to be extinct by 2050 due to habitat loss, sport hunting, and loss of their prey base to the bushmeat trade. these beautiful creatures could be extinct in our lifetime. the next generation may not ever have the chance to see these creatures, there will be no more cute lion vines, there will be no more documentaries, there will be no more zoos or sanctuaries containing lions. there will be no more lions.

As the jury and the alternates stood to leave, Richard Ramirez took off his sunglasses and locked eyes with Cynthia Haden. It seemed like electricity was passing between them. She wasn’t a juror yet, but he figured with Satan’s help he could get her on the jury. He knew what he saw in her eyes, and he figured she would never convict him and send him to San Quentin to die if she became a juror. She had felt his eyes on her all day.

She’d later say of them,”They have an animal quality that makes you feel he’s looking right through you.”

Richard realized this would probably be the last chance for Haden to become a juror, and he had come to believe, through what she told him with her eyes and sympathizing little smiles, that she would never convict him. He demanded his attorneys tell judge Tynan that Sendejas was history.

After lunch Clark explained to Tynan that Richard adamantly wanted Sedejas off the jury. The judge had no choice but to thank Sendejas and dismiss him. He ordered an alternate to be drawn. The clerk reached into the drum, drew and name and read it out loud: “Cynthia Haden.”

“Ms Haden, you are now jurur number 1. You will sit in that seat henceforth.” Judge Tynan ordered.

Cynthia Haden got up, walked to seat number 1 and sat down, with a huge smile on her face, extremely happy and apparently not caring who knew it.

Finally her turn had come. Richard saw the smile and her attitude, and he leaned over and said to his defense team:

”She looks like she won the fucking lottery.”

“She certainly does.” Clark said.

“She’ll never convict you.” Daniel added.

Cynthia Haden even had baked a few cupcakes that said ‘I Love You’ and asked a bailiff to give one to Richard. When the court reconvened, Ramirez found it on the defense table. When he was told that one of the alternate jurors had asked it to be given to him, he picked it up and promptly ate it. Richard loved sweets, and this was a very welcome treat.

Cynthia Haden later voting “guilty” and in the process sentenced him to death… giving him a free ticket for San Quentin Death Row.
